Children aren't going to immediately get cavities from their parents, but if they share spoons, kisses and saliva with their children, it's possible especially if they have a cavity.

These are very concise explanations of gingivitis and periodontits. As they say, knowledge is power, and knowing the risks of not taking care of our teeth can help encourage people to be more responsible.

"Research is also pointing to possible health effects of periodontal diseases that go well beyone your mouth."

This is true. Periodontal disease has been found to be connected to the health of one's heart.

Thanks for sharing. It is important for people to be aware if they are at risk of periodontal disease because this can lead to health risks in the entire body.

Periodontal disease can also cause other health issues throughout the body, such as the heart. Studies have revealed that the germs that cause gum inflammation are the same ones that cause inflammation in arteries, which can lead to blockage.

I feel that tooth brushing is an important part of the day, especially when some of the children spend up to 10 hours per day with me. I do feel, however, that handing preschoolers and toddlers toothbrushes in a place other than the bathroom is not the correct way to teach the hygiene process. We brush our teeth one at a time after lunch. This may take a few minutes longer, but it is the cleaner, safer way.

Dental caries or tooth decay) is basically an infectious disease. When the first teeth erupt, they can be colonized by Streptococcus mutans, the predominant bacteria of dental plaque. This bacterium converts sugars and carbohydrates in the mouth to acid, which dissolves and weakens the tooth enamel - tooth decay. San Luis Obispo Dentist
